We are so grateful for our partnership with Connected Community Schools. We were able to donate and distribute food to 300 plus families — 1,240 kids. Read below to see what Connected Community Schools had to say about our work together.
Have you ever really needed a friend? Well we did, after an unprecedented amount of families accessed our Marketplace for food, we were quite literally left with nothing, not a bag of rice to distribute. Accessing food in these large quantities (exceeding 350 families a week) has been an incredibly difficult task in-itself, but in short notice is nearly impossible.
We were stressed to say the least, we thought of closing for a week, but certainly only as a last resort.
It was one call to Rachel Daughtry at Compassion Coalition, Inc. that changed everything for us and our families this week. Not only did Rachel immediately pick up the phone and call me after reading our plea for help in my email, within seconds she had a plan! Compassion sent THREE full trucks Monday and another THREE full trucks Tuesday!!! Each FULL of food boxes, snack items, pasta, sauce, meat and much more!!
To say this is a new story would be a lie. This Compassionate Crew has helped us out countless times!! Delivering furniture for families that have been in difficult positions, providing coats, mittens hats and even underwear to our students without enough, office furniture to our teachers and do much more!! Don’t get us started on how wonderful their delivery drivers are ….. when the truck pulls up everyone smiles. In days where competition sometimes overshadows collaboration among local agencies, this agency is the epitome of Community Giving, never letting a family or child in need go without. Thank you is never enough, but today another 300 plus families, 1240 kids were fed by our Compassionate friends.
