Compassion Coalition Sends $500,000 in Emergency Supplies to Los Angeles Fire Evacuees
LOS ANGELES — Responding to the devastating wildfires in Southern California, Compassion Coalition, based in Utica, NY, has dispatched a tractor-trailer loaded with $500,000 worth of essential supplies to support thousands of evacuees who fled their homes with little more than the clothes they wore. The shipment left Utica on Saturday afternoon 1/11/25 and is scheduled to arrive in Los Angeles by Monday morning 1/13/25.
The emergency shipment includes critical supplies such as water, protective air masks, blankets, towels, disinfectant, hygiene products, children’s clothing, and underwear. The supplies will be distributed through Zoe Church LA’s distribution center, led by Pastor Chad Veach, which is currently serving thousands of displaced residents.
“Media coverage has largely focused on celebrities and affluent areas, but our contacts on the ground have shared that the majority of affected areas and families are working-class communities who have lost everything in these fires,” said Mike Servello, CEO of Compassion Coalition. “Many of these families have seen their possessions completely destroyed by the fires and now have nothing but the clothes on their backs. Many had just minutes of warning and had to flee immediately.”
The rapid response was made possible through partnerships with major retailers and organizations, including Bombas, Delivering Good, Walmart, World Vision, and Amazon, whose donation of products have enabled Compassion Coalition to maintain resources for immediate deployment during disasters.
“When communities face devastating losses, the ability to respond quickly with essential supplies can make a crucial difference,” added Servello. “Thanks to our partners’ continued support, we’re able to provide these vital resources when they’re needed most.”
